Heli-hiking may take adventure to new heights, but this summer's whirlybird excursions, courtesy of Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), promise a whole new elevation.
Here's the rundown: sporting no ordinary downward facing dog, CMH's new Stretch and Stir, August 20 - 23, 2010, is an alpine adventure that blends yoga, cooking and, of course, hiking. As an added touch, it's all in the family, as Chef Sandra Davis crafts the menus while her yoga master sibling, Julie Sagan, leads the practice.
Should a brush stroke approach be more to your liking, the Painting Workshop with Liz Wiltzen, August 31 - September 5, 2010, combines heli-hikes with creation on canvas. (Wiltzen, an experienced guide with over 10 years of trekking under her boots, and over 20 years at the colour wheel, is known for her prowess with a paint brush).
Long revered as pioneers in the heli-adventure industry, CMH sets the scene in the secluded and scenic Bugaboo Mountains (Bugaboo Lodge supplies homespun menus and cozy nights). A landscape primed for the paintbrush... or mediation in lotus position.
